How Can You Half-Love Someone?

In my opinion, there’s nothing worse than being the the girl that’s ignored on a Friday night, but remembered on a Sunday when you have nothing else to do.

The classic, “I’m sorry, work was so busy. Do you want to hang out today?”

Girl. If he’s that busy, forget it.

Being someone’s ‘sometimes’, the almost-but-not-quite, the more-than-friends-but-not-a-girlfriend, labeled by a slight smirk when someone brings me up, is painful.

I don’t want that. I don’t want this.

Yeah, you read that right. Present tense.

I don’t like that the world thinks it’s okay to half a** everything. This half-love, the no-labels, the non-commitment, exclusive, waste of time.

If you have to hesitate before every kiss, I don’t want you.

You have to know that you want us.

I don’t want a relationship that can’t be labeled, a connection that has no commitment nor promise of a future. I want someone whose heart I can hold.

I don’t want casual. I don’t want random dates or hookups. I don’t want moments that are only beautiful when we’re together, but quickly forgotten when we’re apart. I don’t want to be a ‘thing’ instead of a couple.

I want promises and a future.
I want together, committed, passionate.
I want love.
I want real.

If you can’t give me that, I’ll pack my things and walk away.

It’s that easy.
