The Oldest City in the Nation

Summer vacation is always the best time to take a trip! My family, my boyfriend, and I went to Florida in June. It was my first time in Florida, and definitely a new and exciting experience!

We stayed in a hotel on the beach of St. Augustine and had a perfect view from the top floor.

On the way to the beach we stopped in Savannah, Ga and walked down River Street. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING THIS AT SOME POINT IN YOUR LIFE. It is so pretty and there’s a trillion little shops to buy from!

As we got closer to the Florida line we pulled off the interstate to take a break and guess what I saw, Peach World! I was literally sitting there “peach world, peach world, peach world” until we pulled into the parking lot. I loved it. Peach ice cream, peach slushy, peach drinks, peach jelly and jams, and peach bread (which I bought and consumed very very quickly).

Once we were in St. Augustine, between our daily doses of sunny beach waves, we explored the city.

St. Augustine is the oldest city in the nation, founded in like..the 1500’s if I remember correctly.

There’s trolley rides, haunted tours, old Spanish fort tours, sailboat tours, everything you can imagine being in such a historic place. There’s also some pretty awesome shops! While there we visited The Shell Shop, which has everything you can possibly find on the beach for a small price. (sand dollars, shark teeth, shells, starfish, etc.) We visited Cone Heads, an ice cream shop with some really unique flavors and THE BEST homemade waffle cones. I will warn you though, the cones drip and as I was finishing my cone it sort of…..exploded in my hands….and left a sticky mess. But it was so worth it, I promise. We visited a tiny shop for lunch called French Fry Heaven. Trust me, if you like fries, this is the place to go! There’s all sorts of combinations like Chili Cheese, Cheeseburger, Garlic Cheese, try as many flavors as you can because they are so delicious!

We went on a sailboat ride, which was a lot of fun after I got past the dizzy feeling. The crew was fun and they offered to let the people onboard help raise the sails.

So, that’s a little bit about my crazy, awesome vacation! I really hope some of you get the chance or have had the chance to visit St. Augustine at some point in your life.

St. Augustine is amazing! I’m originally from Florida and have been several times. I love all the touristy stuff and especially the old town. Their beach is AMAZING. So glad you liked it!
